Pleasant is not promised...

Pleasant is not promised… not hardly… I have a favorite scripture I would like to share. "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11 I reminded myself of this scripture…in line with a few conversations I have had in the past and particularly one I will share a portion with you of one I had last night with a friend. She said that “so & so” had gone to “Dr. This & that” in V’burg and had gotten a “pill or something” and she has lost 20 lbs and “Susie Q” has even lost some too…… Then I was surfing channels last night and landed on a segment of “Tyra” and Carol Alt was on. She was talking about losing weight and that often you are able to “starve yourself” at 18 and loose 10 lbs or so in a week. At 40 (or more) though, you may even GAIN weight when you do that! Tyra has been in the “lime light” of late, after one of the tabloids dissed her for gaining weight. WHELLLL … she is “fighting back”. She has done several shows on the subject I think now, about body image, what is “normal” to healthy etc. Anyway, I though Carol’s statement was very accurate. I also read a statement that OPRAH (remember to email) stated (and then my sister quoted again to me yesterday) that.. If there was a “magic pill” or anything near that that was a “quick fix” that OPRAH would have done it by now! Now… as much as that poor woman is ragged about her weight… and with the money she has to afford those things you know she would have it! Plus… anybody that came up with something like that would probably get in touch with her…. Basically you should have my point by now. Then today a fellow teacher joined Linda and me on our walk. She asked, “Well is it easy yet?” We told her “Not really but we are committed and keep pushing”. You know… I may not HAVE to be easy! We must keep on anyway. It is the “JOURNEY” as they say. We can find ENJOYMENT out of something that is not particularly PLEASANT, and I think that is where I am. I know I am doing better. I am able to do more each day (o.k. maybe not EVERYDAY) I am hanging in there and proud of myself that I do. “Do you love yourself enough to practice it?” That is a Bob Greene question. For those of you with me in the (“100 lbs to go Club”…. “Half of me would be better”….. “I’m Twice the woman (man) I wish I was”) need I go on?…… this is what we must realize. Like with many things in our lives… God never promises things will be easy. But he will be there to help us through it! Now we have Mark, and Robin and EACH Other…. I guess I have pretty much worn this soapbox out today. I will try to come up with something else tomorrow!

Sunday....Sunday...

Mannnn ... was today not BEAUTIFUL! We went to Prentiss to watch the dirt bike races... The only training that I did was to walk through the muck to get to a viewing spot. I did flex my muscles though. I am really trying to do the pf ...... exercises and stretches and stretches for my neck / shoulder pain. I am up for the week and looking forward to next week's meeting. This "blogging" is getting fun. Keep it up guys. Ilove reading everyone's blog... Oh Yeah.... don't forget to keep those emails going to OPRAH!

EMAIL OPRAH everyone

Email OPRAH https://www.oprah.com/plugger/templates/BeOnTheShow.jhtml?action=respond&plugId=B2100004 She might decide to "Hook us up" with an extra night, a really good meal, and who knows what! :)

I Feeeuuulll Good ... na..na..na..nu.na.nu.na...

Well I did make the whole two mile run...... ( run by Mark's definition of RUN ~"anything where your body is moving forward.") Remember that? Well... I am not sure if it was the caffeine, the coffee in general... the oatmeal this morning, or perhaps a bit of sinus drainage.... Sorry to those I may have worried as we were headed back UP THE HILL that did not seem like a hill when we were going down it! I got a bit nauseated, but it passed! I have heard all sorts of reasons that this happens... I don't think it happens to the "AVERAGE" runner (ha) at 1.5 miles though! :) I just kept going and it wore off. Then I had baby bites (to go along with my baby breaths) of the cinnamon bread. DO NOT fool yourself by thinking that I was missin' that! I am a Marathoner! Some of you around me heard my Proposition today! I think we all need to contact OPRAH and tell her what we are doing. Wouldn't it be neat if we could go to the OPRAH show on Monday and come back on Tuesday or Monday night even! She could tell about MISSISSIPPI MARATHON MAKEOVER!!!!!!! wOOOOOO hooo! I have already emailed a few times... please feel free to join in on the fun.. Perhaps she may send a crew to get us in the race or even race with us! https://www.oprah.com/plugger/templates/BeOnTheShow.jhtml?action=respond&plugId=B2100004

Now if I will just let this obsessive behavior rub off MORE on my exercise, diet, water, etc... I am getting there... with Linda's help... True confessions though... we did get off eating wise some yesterday. I am looking forward to a great walk be fore the weather gets "ickhy .. yucky...blahhhh" today. Mark will add it with the others, BUT ... Linda's blog is http://imawright.blogspot.com See you soon!

THURSDAY... I am not sure what I did wrong... but my post does not seem to be posting... Likely story! :)

Thursday, February 22, 2007 The TINY upside down Food Pyramid O.K.... am I the only one who just laughed when looking at the pyramid in the SUPERFOODS book? I made a copy and enlarged it so that I could read it.... MUCCCCHHHHHH better. I surprised "Peppa" with a copy today. She saw it sitting on my "class cart" and ohhh & ahhhhhed, and then got REAL excited when I told her that it was her very own and that I knew she too would need it if she were planning to get anything out of the chart. For those of you as blind as us.... in case you are wondering... it has some good info on it.I like looking at charts to get a handle on understanding information. Anyway. we are creating notebooks with some of our better information. I know... it is one of those "teacher" things. I learn better that way... I can't help it. Plus... If I know it I am more likely to DO IT!Looking forward to FRIDAY! Posted by Believe in Miricles ~ Lisa B Davis at 8:52 PM 0 comments Thursday..... another terrific, sunny day! You may have seen this before... I may have even seen it before... If I did, it did not register with me as it does today. Sooooo ... I am sharing it with you. Wonderful Wednesday/// walked instead of xt....but

O.K. I promise I am going to get some xt in too! Linda and I did two FULLLlll hall sessions and even got a student to drag up in there with us. Outside is so wonderful today.... we branched out too. I have informed my classes today that I am not a morning person and that perhaps in an effort to get the most.... or even SOMETHING out of class.... that they too might consider moving around a lap or two prior to class to wake up and get their blood flowing..... It will allow them to put so much less effort into paying atention and getting a benifit from all of their classes!!@ They have now labeled be crazy! I also told them that it really did not matter if others look at them crazy if they have 97% and 100 % and the crazy lookers have 35% or 47%! Let's get moving..... Linda and I have committed to makeing ourselves some charts / reminder sheets/ checklists.... something to make us accountable and remind us of the particular SUPERFOODS that we need to really watch out for to assist us in our various weeknesses... i.e. Sight ... diabeties... Gotta chart.....! Wonderful Wednesday to all! Lisa

Monday ~ Many Steps make miles ...

Steps... steps.... and more steps... Linda & I walk the halls and occasionally venture outside. Today is Monday, the beginning of our work week... we continue to walk in between our classes... Baby steps are still steps... I am convincing myself that every little step counts and it is important to do those "little" assignments. I did chart some but not completely... I still have time to go back through my day and then chart my food... This will be the start of a great week! I just know it. Good luck to everyone. Keep on walking.

Levee Loads

Weeehll... I made it to the levy..... and back! :) It was great to be back at the meeting yesterday! I hated missing last week. It is kinda like going to church for me. Yeah.... you can do it on your own... the Lord knows for sure that I have researched analyzed and yes even been successful and healthy living before.... I just get "off track....an den further.... of track.... an den... give it up!" I need that Saturday Boost! I need my fellow BELIEVERS to get me back on track when I deviate! I was telling Mark... this current training (for me) I have to compare to when I was in college and took a light load. I only had 12 hours... I procrastinated even more than usual for even me! My grades were not as good as usual. That I what I feel like I have been doing. I don't want to beat myself up too terribly, 'cause that gives me yet another excuse to quit/ lax (pouting takes a determined effort you know! .. AND concentration too... ) I am committing to charting my food and water this week. Yeah... I said it here! I was just planning to commit to eating better and making better CHOICES.... I know me though... and I will actually stand a chance of succeeding if I will chart! It was great to chat with several of you. I am ready! I am also going to try to blog everyday.... One day.... I will be the one to say.... yes... I did it! Lisa

Hppy Valentines' Day

It's a great day to XT. Still gotta do that! :) Though we despirately missed all of you on Saturday, Linda and I (two teachers training to touch the tape at the end of the marathon) gave the ACT test on Saturday, ate a light and healthy lunch and then walked our 1.5 plus miles! We were feeling MAHHHHVelous. We debated upon the possibility of putting it off, but decided to go ahead and push ourselves..... (ACT administration can be taxing!) With all of our moaning and groaning, we both agreed we were glad we had gotten out and walked in the great outdoors! We WILL be there this Saturday to churn away with you..... Linda may relay her bloggedness through me. She says she hasn't been to bloggable lately. I told her not to fear... I would blog for the both of us. (I'm thinking this may scare her in to blogging for herself.... We'll see! :) ) We have been walking the halls this week. The students all just laugh at us. If nothing else.... we are certainly VISABLE in the hallways!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week and VALENTINES' DAY. Lisa

Terrific Tuesday for two teachers........ t. t... t...

Tuesday has come and now about to be gone... Linda and I made several rounds between each class period this morning. We have students watching in wonder..... Two teachers...traipsing around at somewhat less than "lightning speed"... Attempting to get in shape. Tomorrow is XT.... gotta figure out what I will attempt. I read on several blogs about "DEALING w/ Doubters". This will be interesting. I am not sure how many of you are, but I HAVE been known to "get on a kick" and then drop it like a hot potato! I am enlisting a PRE-Curb Crew! I have notified those who refused to join in as my "Pre~ race Crew" I am not one who can wait until Chicago to assemble my curb crew... I will need them much sooner. I think that each of us will have to be there as the "Curb Crew" for one another. Linda is my biggest encourager at this point. I feel that commitment to SEE IT THROUGH. I have to do this. We have a large group. I WILL be one still in the crew come October in Chicago... will you?

Another week ahead :) ~ Yeah COLTS!

Well... It was great to see everyone on Saturday. Thanks for keeping us on track Chris! (The band man)... For those reading this who care... The tow teachers who believe in Miracles (Linda Smith and me) are the two idiots who looked like the bridesmaids on movies going for the bouquet when we fell all over the two women sitting innocently in front of us as we dove for the reflective running shirt! Sorry guys, had I realized that my own friend would go for it with such gusto, (AND END UP WITH THE PRIZE!), I would have certainly established my Base, swung my assets around to gain proper position (as I learned in basketball) and beaten her out of the prize WITHOUT injury to either of you. I do apologize again! ....You must remember we are teachers.... any one else who is a teacher, knows how we are about FREE STUFF! Teachers are always looking for free supplies and anything else we can get. It is always a fight in the office if there is something to be had. I am so excited about this.... As my daughter reminded me... "Mom, you always get all "UP" about this stuff and then don't follow through" PLEASE help me prove her wrong. GOAL~ Do ALL of my training this week and begin to chart food. HAVE a great week all!

Got recognized from TV

I was catering tonight and someone said..." I saw you on t.v. this week." Of course then all wanted to know why... and so the story goes. Everyone is cheering us on. Our cohorts at work are really cheering the two teachers on at work. We are hoping that we may have one more join in. Some want to start "training" with us at work as much as possible. Both Linda and I have gotten reading materials and much encouragement I really thought no one would recognize me, but he was the only one so far. See everyone tomorrow!..... ready to roll!
